About Me

SailorAndMagpie (that's me) is an artist who is just starting to attempt a proper professional connection to the internet for their art.I enjoy drawing stuff for video games and other media that I'm interested in, but I also am currently studying for a degree in graphic design and illustration.  I still consider my skills in art to be a bit amateur, I'm still learning my colour theory and design cohesion in school after all, but I am well-practiced in my particular niches.I have a personal love of creature and mechanical design, as well as making unique poses and compositions.

Some questions I get asked sometimes:

Q. What programs do you use for your art?

I use Clip Studio Paint for all of my digitally drawn works and I use Libresprite for any sprite-work.  Otherwise, I do make some physical work from time to time, like craft projects, printing and sketchbook drawings.
 

Q. Where can I see your portfolio?

I showcase my art both on a Tumblr account and an Instagram account.  The tumblr account does however have some text posts in-between my drawings and is overall more personal.  If you want to just see an archive of my work, it'll be on the Instagram.
 

Q. Can I use your art in my own work?

Fair use is always a bit of a complicated space, so if you have anything specific you want to ask me, just send me a message.  In general, you're fine to use my art in profile pictures, youtube videos and online posts as long as you credit me when you use it.  My art is however not to be used in a 3rd party commercial sale (commissions are an exeption) and cannot be used to train an AI or other learning algorithm.

Q. Where can I contact you for questions / requests?

My g-mail is available at the bottom of the website's home page.  Please do not try to message me on Tumblr or Discord since I have settings in place to avoid scam messages.

Q. Do you have a store?

Not at the moment.  I'm still new to curating an art portfolio of my own and I currently lack the kind of following to facilitate a dedicated store page.  I will update this website to include a link to a store page if I do create one though.

Guidelines

When requesting a commission, its useful to know what an artist may specialise at and what parts they may consider a blindspot.  Here is a quick guide to what I can and can't draw in a commission:

Can Draw:

- Humans and Humanoid creatures (includes furries and related anthro, humanoid robots and cartoonish humanoid proportions.)

- Monsters, Animals and related Creatures.

- Mechs and Machinery (includes vehicles, steampunk and organic machinery, see below for specific details on mech commissions.)

- Pixel Art and Sprite-work (See below for specific details on pixel art commissions.)

(NSFW) - Gore, body horror, heavy violence, drug use, nudity, trypophobia (cluster phobia), entomophobia (insects and arachnids) and eyestrain.

Can't Draw:

- Comics or other paneled storytelling frameworks (ie. webtoon)

(NSFW) - Sexual conduct, pornography or kink, realistic depitctions of trypanophobia (use of needles) and emetophobia (vomiting), imagery associated with hate speech.
